Seeking a master degree'd Social Worker for a hospital. Prior supervisory experience is preferred.


Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work is required; Master’s degree in Social Work is Preferred;

  • Hold current Social Work license in the state of Louisiana

  • Minimum of one year of psychiatric experience preferred


Job Duties and Responsibilities



  • Provide one-on-one and group supervision to staff;

  • Provides information and effectively recommends disciplinary action if necessary;

  • Mentor staff and provide constructive feedback on job performance and conduct; conduct Performance Improvement Plans as necessary;

  • Provide adequate and timely documentation of supervisory meetings with employees including job performance issues;

  • Oversee and maintain schedule for assigned staff; oversee PTO requests and overtime (OT) approvals, necessary coverage, time and attendance and sick calls;

  • Supervises employee performance and progress and completes performance appraisals

  • Mentor and manage staff by consistently defining expectations, level of authority, accountability and responsibility.

  • Functions as a resource to staff and physicians regarding clinical and patient care issues;

  • Be prepared for, and attend daily clinical review providing relevant input for patient care for assistance with the completion of daily planning of all shifts, including acuity assessment, group coverage, low/high census needs, transportation, labs, testing, referrals, outliers, and staffing changes;

  • Ensure coverage is communicated to appropriate parties;

  • Communicate daily finalized treatment plans to Nursing, Access/UR and Social Work staff following clinical review meetings;

  • Initiates and serves as the responsible discipline for discharge planning, utilizing assessments and recommendations from the multidisciplinary treatment team

  • Initiates discharge planning form and provides an update plan for discharge throughout patients’ hospitalization

  • Serve as contact person for families and outside providers

  • Demonstrate ability to adjust own workload to meet fluctuation in patient census

  • Able to identify significant changes in patient’s condition and take appropriate actions as evidenced in reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation

  • Participates in a rotation of evenings, weekends, and holidays

  • Perform related duties as required, including but not limited to group facilitation and patient care

  • Respond to access calls and conduct clinical assessment of patient needs, with physician, in order to coordinate admission to appropriate level of care

  • Develop and initiates initial treatment plan, including precautions

  • Demonstrate ability to adjust own workload to meet fluctuation in patient census

  • Able to identify significant changes in patient’s condition, and take appropriate actions as evidenced in reporting, staffing consultations, and documentation

  • Provide mental health care to adolescent adult and geriatric patients with a psychiatric diagnosis

  • Facilitate appropriate facets of Family Program based on clinician’s skill areas

  • Assists physician with involuntary commitment process but limited to group facilitation and direct patient care
